Oneiric ("the Extension," "we," "us," or "our") is a student productivity Chrome extension designed to help students manage schoolwork in one place. Oneiric connects to Google Classroom, with user permission, and provides a home dashboard, calendar, notes and subjects, task manager, study timer, grade calculator, and an optional Smart Assistant feature.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Oneiric collects, how it is used, where it is stored, and the choices available to users.

2. Single Purpose

Oneiric's single purpose is to provide a student productivity workspace connected to Google Classroom, including assignment tracking, notes, tasks, grades, study tools, and optional AI-powered study assistance.

Data is collected and used solely to support this stated purpose.

3. Information We Collect

The categories below correspond to the data disclosures listed on the Oneiric Chrome Web Store listing.

3.1 Personally Identifiable Information

When a user signs in with Google, Oneiric may receive:

• Name
• Email address
• Profile picture
• Basic Google account profile information required for sign-in

Purpose: To identify the user within the application, display their profile, connect their Google Classroom account, and verify whether their school email domain is licensed to use Oneiric.

3.2 Authentication Information

Oneiric uses Google OAuth, via Chrome's identity system, to obtain access tokens required for sign-in and for calling Google APIs on the user's behalf.

Purpose: Authentication is required to securely access a user's Google account and Google Classroom data, with their consent. Oneiric does not request or store Google account passwords; sign-in is handled entirely through Google's official OAuth flow.

3.3 Personal Communications

If a user chooses to use the Smart Assistant feature, Oneiric processes the text entered into the chat, including questions, prompts, and related study content submitted by the user.

Purpose: To provide AI-powered study assistance, such as explanations, summaries, planning support, or quiz-style help, when requested by the user.

3.4 School and Classroom Productivity Data

With user permission, Oneiric may access the following Google Classroom information:

• Enrolled courses
• Coursework and assignments
• Due dates
• Submission status for coursework

Purpose: To display assignments, due dates, reminders, and related schoolwork information within Oneiric.

3.5 Local Application Data

Oneiric stores productivity data created by the user within the Extension, which may include:

• Notes and subject content
• Checklists and flashcards
• Tasks and planner items
• Grade calculator entries
• Theme preferences and UI settings
• Timer settings
• Notification preferences
• Onboarding completion state
• Cached Classroom assignment data, for faster loading

Purpose: To ensure the user's workspace, preferences, and school tools remain available each time Oneiric is opened.

3.6 Information We Do Not Collect

Oneiric does not intentionally collect:

• Health information
• Financial or payment card information from students within the Extension
• Precise geolocation data
• General web browsing history across other websites
• Keystrokes, mouse movement, scroll tracking, or other activity-monitoring data
• Content from websites unrelated to Oneiric's function

4. How Information Is Used

Information described above is used exclusively to:

1. Authenticate users via Google and maintain active sessions
2. Retrieve and display Google Classroom assignments and related schoolwork data
3. Provide core Oneiric features, including the dashboard, calendar, notes, tasks, grades, timer, and settings
4. Deliver optional local reminders and notifications enabled by the user
5. Provide Smart Assistant responses when requested
6. Verify that a user's school email domain is authorized to use Oneiric
7. Save user preferences and local productivity data to ensure reliable operation
8. Maintain, improve, and secure the Extension

Oneiric does not use collected data to:

• Sell personal information
• Build advertising profiles
• Determine creditworthiness
• Support lending decisions
• Train unrelated third-party marketing systems

5. Data Storage and Processing

5.1 Local Device Storage

Most productivity data, including notes, tasks, grades, settings, theme preferences, and local caches, is stored locally using Chrome's chrome.storage.local on the user's device. This data remains on the user's device unless a specific feature, such as Smart Assistant, requires a network request.

5.2 Google Services

Authentication and Classroom data requests are processed through Google's systems, including Google Identity, OAuth, and the Google Classroom API, in accordance with Google's own terms and privacy practices.

5.3 Smart Assistant (Groq)

When a user submits a request to Smart Assistant, the corresponding prompt or chat text is sent to Groq's API to generate a response. This occurs only when the feature is actively used.

5.4 License Verification (Supabase)

To confirm school access eligibility, Oneiric may send the user's email domain to a license verification backend hosted on Supabase, in order to determine whether the associated school is authorized to use Oneiric.

6. Third-Party Service Providers

Oneiric shares limited data with the following service providers, solely as needed to operate the Extension:

This data sharing supports the Extension's functionality and does not constitute a sale of personal data. Oneiric does not sell or rent user information to data brokers or advertisers.

7. Chrome Permissions

Oneiric requests the following Chrome permissions, each used solely for the stated purpose:

Host permissions are limited to Google Classroom and Google APIs, the Groq API (Smart Assistant), and Supabase (license verification).

8. Notifications and Reminders

Where enabled by the user, Oneiric uses Chrome alarms and notifications to provide reminders for upcoming assignment due dates and study timer completion. These notifications are generated solely for productivity purposes and are not used for advertising.

9. Children's Privacy and Student Use

Oneiric is intended for students and school use. Where Oneiric is provided through a school, the school may control access, for example by licensing a specific school email domain.

Minors should use Oneiric only with the permission of a parent, guardian, or school, as required by applicable local rules and school policy. Oneiric does not knowingly sell children's personal information.

10. School Licensing

Oneiric may be offered to schools under a license or subscription model. Selling access to Oneiric as a licensed product is distinct from selling user data. Even where schools pay for access, student personal data is used only to provide Oneiric's student productivity features and related license verification, and is never sold as a data product.

11. Data Retention

• Local Extension data is retained on the user's device until cleared, reset, or removed via uninstallation or Chrome storage clearing.
• Cached Classroom data is retained locally for performance and refreshed during synchronization.
• Authentication tokens are managed through Chrome Identity and Google OAuth, and are removed upon sign-out or revocation of access.
• Smart Assistant requests are processed only to generate a response at the time of use.
• License verification requests are used solely to determine school domain eligibility.

12. User Choices and Controls

Users may:

• Choose whether to sign in with Google
• Decline to use the Smart Assistant feature
• Modify theme and preference settings
• Enable or disable reminder settings, where available
• Clear cached assignment data in Settings
• Reset local Oneiric data in Settings
• Sign out of Oneiric at any time
• Uninstall the Extension via Chrome
• Revoke Oneiric's Google account access through Google Account permission settings

Where Oneiric is provided by a school, certain access controls, such as domain licensing, may be managed by the school.

13. Data Security

Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect user information, including:

• Use of Google's official OAuth sign-in, avoiding direct password collection
• Local storage of most workspace data within Chrome storage
• Restriction of network access to required API hosts only
• Use of HTTPS for all external network requests

No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. Users are encouraged to protect access to their own devices and Google accounts.

14. International Data Processing

Depending on user location and service provider infrastructure, information may be processed in countries other than the user's own, including locations where Google, Groq, or Supabase operate their systems. By using Oneiric, users acknowledge that such processing may occur as necessary to operate the Extension.

15. Legal Compliance

Oneiric processes information to:

• Provide the requested Extension functionality
• Perform license and access verification required for school use
• Operate optional features selected by the user
• Comply with applicable laws and platform requirements, including Chrome Web Store policies

We certify that Oneiric does not:

• Sell or transfer user data to third parties outside approved use cases

• Use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes
